Lenten Retreat

The Marian Fellowship Group is hosting a Lenten Retreat: The Eucharist and the Spiritual Works of Mercy.
Our presenter will be Deacon Jerry.

The Good Samaritan parable defines “neighbor love” as the practice of mercy.  In response to the question “Who is my neighbor” one might answer “the man lying wounded along the road.”  But it is not.

The answer is the Samaritan. The neighbor is the one who shows mercy. In The Face of Mercy, Pope Francis’s first words identify Jesus Christ as the face of mercy. This Jesus comes to us in a special way, in a real way, every time we receive the Eucharist at Mass. So, mercy is extended to us in and through the Blessed Sacrament. At the end of Mass, one of the options for the words of dismissal is, “Go in peace, glorifying the Lord by your life.” Through this retreat, we will learn to live what we believe. We are to become another Christ, the Face of Christ, the Face of Mercy, to every person we encounter, the familiar and the unfamiliar, the lovable and the unlovable.

The retreat will take place on Saturday, March 18. Check-in for the retreat is at 8:00 AM (coffee and donuts) and will begin with morning prayer in the Sanctuary at 8:30 AM. The retreat will be from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM.  Lunch will be served.  PLEASE RSVP FOR LUNCH BY FEBRUARY 26 at:  MarianFellowshipGroup@stgeorge60477.org.
